CLEARView™ provides DC Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) the leading law enforcement system for collecting digital media content in support of police interrogations

Alexandria, VA – (PRWeb) -- Jan. 18, 2006 – TranTech, Inc., a leading developer and vendor of Digital Asset Management (DAM) solutions, has been awarded a contract with Washington DC’s MPD for its Video Interrogation Rooms Technology Upgrade known as “Project VIRTU”. In compliance with DC law and MPD’s General Order #GO-SPT-304.16 "Electronic Recording of Interrogations", TranTech is working with MPD in implementing the CLEARView™ system to maintain accurate and complete records of all interrogations, providing chain-of-custody accountability and collar-to-conviction integrity.

TranTech’s CLEARView™ system is a reliable and scalable system that can accommodate the physical and functional needs of small, medium, or large law enforcement agencies. The CLEARView™ system will be configured to meet the unique and demanding needs of MPD’s Project VIRTU. The new system will provide MPD with a secure, redundant, and manageable platform from which to maintain critical police interrogation information.

Project VIRTU calls for the placement of standalone Digital Video Recording systems in thirty-three (33) interview rooms within sixteen (16) distinct locations throughout the District of Columbia. The CLEARView™ system answers the call by managing the capture process, providing fault tolerant and failsafe system management, updating the system with automatic and manual entry metadata, and efficiently managing the storage and archiving of all digital recordings. The CLEARView™ system also exports interrogations via DVD for multi-purposing, including use by attorneys and in- court proceedings.

The new system utilizes state-of-the-art technology, while providing a completely “user-friendly” interface and an exceptionally “officer-friendly” environment. Fail-safe on/off controls ensure each interrogation session is seamlessly captured, and exclusive, layered security controls guarantee access is granted strictly to authorized users.

“MPD has opted to upgrade its video interrogation infrastructure with a proven system similar to one TranTech installed for the Chicago Police Department. Project VIRTU, when complete, will provide MPD the most advanced video interrogation system technology, and make it compliant with current law and the GO. MPD is implementing a system that provides it a built-in pathway to ensure future enhancements and integration with citywide IT standards. Our CLEARView™ system helps MPD focus on the important business of enforcing the law and solving crimes.” said Mark Wells, TranTech’s Director of Technology.
